Description from the channel
Yohmor al-Chaqif: the al-Faqaani Area
The al-Faqaani area separates Yohmor al-Chaqif, north of the Litani River, from al-Taybeh to the south. It extends to al-Muzahlaq, which separates Yohmor to the west of the river from Deir Mimas to its east. Between the two areas, the Litani turns west at a right angle. With its woodlands, rocks and magnificent scenery, where nature has painted its finest pictures, this is one of the most beautiful areas around the village and in Lebanon. Unfortunately, it has received no attention from the ministries of tourism and culture over the years.
Al-Faqaani takes its name from a scholar who built a mill whose remains still stand near the river. He came from Faqayh, a small hamlet near Tyre that has since disappeared. He was one of two scholars: Sheikh Abdallah al-Faqaani or Sheikh Abu al-Qasim Ali ibn Ali ibn Jamal al-Din Muhammad ibn Tay al-Amili al-Faqaani, who died in 855 AH (1451 CE).
